Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

This 24-week program provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully participate in Lean Six Sigma projects. Students will focus on the key components of the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) approach to process improvement and integrates the Lean principles into the methodology. This program is also designed to help participants prepare for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (SSGB). Upon successful completion, those who wish to continue toward becoming a Black Belt can enroll in an additional 12-week course to prepare for the Sigma Black Belt Certification. These courses were specifically designed for CACI employees and a specific company project will be integrated with the coursework.

Course Descriptions

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Extension Course

This 12 week course prepares students to use advanced statistical methods to analyze, conduct and interpret statistical tests. To participate, students must be Green Belt certified or have completed the Green Belt coursework.

Current tuition for this course is $515/credit hour, or $2,075 total tuition and fees and may be eligible for tuition reimbursement.

Course Description


Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Program (DMAIC)

This 4-course program is the cornerstone of the Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) curriculum and will focus on providing individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to successfully complete Lean Six Sigma projects within CACI. This program will teach the details of how to execute successful quality improvement process projects on existing systems. Participants will work through their own real world projects, learning to apply the principles and methodology immediately. This program is designed to help participants prepare for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Six Sigma Black Belt Certification. Each course is 8 weeks in length.

Objectives: Students who successfully complete this program will be able to:

  1. Apply the Lean Six Sigma process to quality improvement projects and evaluate each objective to ensure they are completed before moving to the next phase.

  2. Examine the Voice of the Customer (VOC) responses to identify a customer’s true needs.

  3. Evaluate the Critical to Quality (CTQ) elements of a process according to the customer.

  4. Explain the concept of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and how it is used to determine the most effective measurement tool.

  5. Apply basic descriptive statistics and graphing techniques to evaluate specific processes.

  6. Develop control plans to establish the measurement system as the standard operating procedure, and ensure the measured process is brought into and remains in compliance.
